Scratching the creativity itch.

The Creative Process....sorta
Got myself a new Moog Theremin. I have always wanted to own a Moog and now I do. Gotta learn how to play it. Pretty easy concept. You just wave your hands over the volume and pitch antennas. The trick is learning spacial locations relative to the pitch antenna. Takes awhile for muscle memory to kick in.
i need to put more effort into learning my Reason software which allows me to build a virtual 'rack' of synthesizers and equipment to make music.
Honestly, if you're into music composition and you don't have a program like Reason or a good computer you are really missing out. While I prefer analog (tape, records) for its sound quality, working digitally is a screaming hoot. The things you can do with sound are just phenom. i've had so much fun with Reason. You open a rack and start building it with any of around 30 or more instruments. The Thor synth is very capable of producing just about any sound you want and the assorted mixing panels and sound shaping tools are awesome.
You can load up an existing MIDI file and start chainging to very realistic instruments. After shaping and composing I open up Sound Forge and start finishing the file, equalizing, pitch adjusting, boositing frequencies, etc..
Ain't modern science grand?
I got a huge bonus this year so decided to finally upgrade some of my equipment. Since i added two new computers last year I only needed minimal HW upgrades like more ram and a few peripherals so I concentrated on software.
I started with OS. Went to Win 7 Pro on my office production computer. Pro gives you a dual boot setup so I didn't have to scram my HD and reload everything. i'm running XP and Win 7 64bit with 4G of ram now. I wanted 64Bit for the video editing but some of the programs I'm running won't function in a 64 environ so it worked out great. Then i upped my Sony software. Went to Sound Forge Pro 10 which finally offers multitrack editing and Vegas Pro 10 64bit for video editing.
All of my other stuff is still pretty new. Crazy Talk 6, Particle Illusion, Magic Bullet Quick Looks and all the other support programs are fine for another couple years but you have to keep the heavy guns up.
Now if I can just get some help with my audio projects I'm working on. Also have a youtube project that will require a LOT of work so need a creative team to help out.
Upgrades (or how I learned to spend big bucks without crying too loudly)
My new Moog Etherwave Theremin
I'm still trying to get enough info together to put together a youtube video about Mom's stint as a Dr. Pepper Girl back in the 40's (30's, 50's not too sure). I think it would be fun to just put it out there and see if anyone else picks up on it. Any other Pepper Girls out there?
Also want to do something about the gold heist in Prineville, OR that my great uncle on Dad's side pulled off. Another one with very little information to go on. i need to find the 'map' I got from grandma and post it online with details.
Pepper Girls, stolen army gold and other such stuff
